Going on a trip is playing a good trick on the passage of time. By agreeing to an interlude in its own duration, we experience time in another way. it feels good!
Even when you really like the life you lead, there always comes a time when your ordinary becomes really too... Ordinary. When there are so many beautiful places to discover, so many exciting roads to travel, so many fascinating ways of life to explore and wonderful people to meet, why settle for just staying at home?
When you travel a lot, sometimes you think of all the things you could afford if you didn't spend so much money on travel. However, very few travelers come to regret it. On the contrary!
After a few trips, you learn to easily do without things that you thought were essential, you more easily support sprains to your little quirks and your notion of success evolves in depth. One can even discover the qualities of the society which is one's own and appreciate more the chance one has to be part of it.
Going on a trip is playing a good trick on the passage of time. By agreeing to an interlude in its own duration, we experience time in another way. it feels good!
And then, while traveling, one develops the certainty of having a future. By swapping your cozy slippers for a solid pair of walking shoes from time to time, you can easily have the impression of pushing back the limits of your own aging!
So traveling: loss or profit?
This choice is made on several criteria completely different from each other. The first is silly, but you have to love traveling in all conditions and know how to accept certain 'sacrifices' such as very uncertain accommodation, cuisine, language barriers or hygiene conditions.
All destinations are possible, but with a little reason, there are some countries to avoid and for that, do not hesitate to check with Travel advice and avoid some inconvenience, but if you go through a tour operator , you will be warned!
It is always wise to match the weather, certain particularities of the country visited to its holiday periods. But the criteria are mainly: the desire, the duration of the trip, the time of year, the budget or the physical capacities.
You can travel in different ways: alone, as a couple or in a group, organized or not (preferably to be avoided!!), on foot, on horseback or by car... Transport conditions are sometimes exhausting with the hours of flight in plane, the hours of routes (more or less in good condition). You must know your physical abilities before undertaking certain journeys because it is dangerous to overestimate yourself!!!
We all have our reasons for traveling even if some consider a stay abroad as a trip... The purpose of the trip is to discover the other, their habits and customs, their living environment, etc...
A visa is a paid document that authorizes the entry of a foreign national into a country. But for many countries, it also represents a good source of foreign currency. Depending on the nationality of the applicant national, and the country of destination, the formalities for obtaining it vary completely. The visa is obtained from the consulate or the embassy of the country in which you wish to go.
To obtain a visa, you will first need to have your passport. As a general rule, the latter must be valid for another 6 months from the date of entry into the country. You will also need to complete an application form with photos and return ticket.
You can get it directly by traveling, through your tour operator or through specialized companies.
It's no more dangerous than at home if you take a few common sense precautions. The first and one of the most important, water. Give preference to sealed bottled water, whether mineral (quite expensive) or treated. Avoid ice cubes, foods washed in running water. For meals, cooked, scalded, or peeled foods are safe.
Vaccines: prove according to your destination if they are in day and of actuality. An important point: the paludism or malaria which does not have vaccine, but makes you take a medicine before, hanging and upon the return to your trip.
Provide some medication for the plane or various vehicles (car sickness), diarrhea or constipation, painkiller or anti-cold. Also provide sunscreen, sprays or mosquito repellent sticks. Plan a post-departure visit to the dentist and doctor for a check-up.
If you have a little space, provide a first aid kit bought in pharmacies.
It is easy these days to document the various destinations with either books and guides, or with a tool like the internet. The more information we have on itineraries, accommodation, formalities, weather, history... The better!!! A trip is getting ready.
Travel is not always by plane or other means of transport. Going to other continents or distant lands becomes tiring with age: duration, conditions and above all arduousness.
This is why we have invested in a motorhome which will allow us to go more often to areas closer to our pied-à-terre and above all to take our little family with us: Faustine, Ambre the cats and Shiva, our dog, the youngest!!.
